Subject Information - Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE)

VISION / AIM

Our aim is to equip students with the knowledge and tools to keep them safe and healthy (both individually and in their relationships); enabling them to be prepared for life’s challenges and opportunities; and developing them into valuable members of society.

At our school, the PSHE curriculum follows statutory guidance from the Department for Education (DfE) and adopts the thematic approach recommended by the PSHE Association. All lesson resources are provided through Unifrog, ensuring students receive high-quality, engaging materials. It is important to note that PSHE has no formal examinable component, allowing students to focus on personal development without the pressure of assessments.

The curriculum is built around three core themes: the self, relationships and the wider world. These themes are revisited each year to help students deepen their knowledge and develop essential life skills.

PSHE lessons are delivered weekly in a 45-minute session at the start of each week, supplemented by Drop Down Days, which provide in-depth exploration of key topics and enrich the learning experience.
